Meet the Author
Lea Sullivan is a first responder therapist, founding director of The Resilience Academy, retired volunteer chaplain, and a leading trainer for peer support and chaplain teams. She holds her Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies with a concentration in Trauma and Crisis Counseling. Her doctoral research was seminal work exploring the link between attachment bonds and firefighter resilience, shaping her innovative approach to mental health in the fire service.
As a former Director of Mental Wellness in a fire district, Dr. Sullivan developed the nation’s first attachment-based mental health program for firefighters. With extensive experience supporting firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, dispatchers, and their families, she brings a culturally competent perspective to training and advocacy.
A sought-after speaker and peer support trainer, Dr. Sullivan specializes in resilience, attachment, and cultural competence within the first responder community. She continues her work through agency-wide support, dedicated to strengthening the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of those who serve.
